As of July 2012, the duties of  Elected Constables that have not attended enforcement training consist of the following: the service of civil or criminal process, the killing of injured deer, assistance to the health officer, collector of taxes if a collector has not been elected and the removal of disorderly people from town meeting.  The  constable may act only when authorized by a specific statute.

The Bridgewater Constable assists with the licensing of un-registered dogs.
